Content Velocity Calculator
Figure out how much content to publish each month to hit your traffic goal.
It uses your current traffic, your goal, your industry, industry-standard failure buffer, and your timeline to give you a clear monthly publishing target.
Where to find it
In the left sidebar under Foundations, click Content Velocity.
How to use it
Set current monthly organic traffic
Move the slider for your current monthly visitors from search.
Choose your industry
Pick the category that best matches your business.
Choose your timeline
Select how quickly you want to hit your goal: 3, 6, 9, or 12 months.
Set your traffic goal
Once industry and timeline are selected, the goal slider becomes active. Set your desired monthly traffic.
The calculator caps your traffic goal based on three things: where you're starting, what timeline you've set, and how content actually ranks on Google. A new post can take 4-8 months to reach steady-state traffic, so a site with 2,000 visitors on a 3-month timeline won't hit 50,000 visitors no matter how much you publish, because most of those posts won't have started ranking yet. You need to build domain and topical authority steadily.
Set your current publishing pace
Enter how many pieces of content you currently publish per month.
Lock in your Content Velocity Target
You'll see your target reflected in your Dashboard after locking it in.
Best practices
- Start with realistic timelines; shorter timelines usually require a much higher monthly output.
- Update your numbers monthly so your target stays useful.
- Use your "required pace" as your content planning baseline for your team.
- Treat this as a planning guide- actual results still depend on content quality, topic choices, and consistency.
